Vogtle 1/2 - Does anyone have Carbon Steel Piping where the header interfaces with the buildings? Do you have corrosion/leak issues with these lines? If yes, what have you done to identify and combat the issue?

    Watts Bar - no issues with interface

    Sequoyah - Same as WBN

    Browns Ferry - Same, no issues with interface

    Turkey Point - 

    North Anna - Installed, no issues. 

    Surry - Same as North Anna

    St. Lucie - Carbon Steel, no interface issues. TB is all outdoors. Working on metalized coating. Type of coating system that is blasted on and dual flame and makes a coating that prevents corrosion. 

    McGuire - No issues

    Brunswick - had an issue. coating was degraded beneath a slab. had to excavate the flooring, was in the worst possible location. 

    Recommended internal scoping and inspection to determine risk. Lake water is source.

    Oconee -  

    Harris - 

    Catawba - No issues. 

    HB Robinson - No issues. 

    VC Summer - yes Carbon steel

    Hatch - We have such piping interfaces and had one leak in the past 4 years. No known historical failures of this type

    Watts Bar - have them installed but have not had issues so far

    St. Lucie - have them installed but have not had issues so far. Installing metalized (aluminum) coating to limit exterior corrosion. Will reply to this post with this info

    Mcguire - have them installed but have not had issues so far

    Brunswick - One issue with pinhole leak due to exterior coating failure, cut out 6 ft section and replaced

    Oconee - have them installed but have not had issues so far

    Harris - No comment

    Catawba - have them installed but have not had issues so far

    Robinson - have them installed but have not had issues so far

    VC Summer - have them installed but have not had issues so far

  • Wolf Creek does.  We have cathodic protection on these lines and they were originally externally coated with bitomastic.  We have not had leaks as of yet.
